Angel Trees Now Closed – Salvation Army Now Making a List and Checking It Twice!
Chattanooga, TN – The Angel Trees are now closed at area malls. The Salvation Army now checks to make sure Angels and gifts are sorted by families and ready for distribution. In some cases, gifts have not been returned and The Salvation Army will have to put together gifts for those Angels.
"We make a promise that all Angels will receive a gift," states Major Beverly Lawrence, Director of Women's Services for The Tennessee Valley. "Today we have a long day ahead of us as we sort through all of the gifts and make a list of those who are still in need. It looks as if 180 angel gifts have not been returned but we will finalize that today."
The Angel Tree Distribution will be Wednesday and Thursday, December 16 and 17 at 1530 Mueller Avenue for the Chattanooga Angel Tree and Friday, December 19, at 2125 E. Inman Street for the Cleveland Angel Tree.
The Salvation Army Angel Tree provides Christmas assistance for those who would otherwise not receive anything under their trees. The Salvation Army will assist 2769 children and seniors through the 2009 Angel Tree Program.
Monetary donations are also needed to offset expenses for Angel Tree and Christmas Dinner. Donations can be placed in any of the red kettles, mailed into the offices at 800 McCallie Ave or can also be given on line at www.CSArmy.org or by calling 1-800-Sal-Army.
