The Salvation Army Salutes Its Volunteers Tonight!

February 16, 2010 (Chattanooga, TN) – The Salvation Army will be honoring all of its 2009 volunteers at The Salvation Army Volunteer Appreciation Reception at The Chattanooga Choo-Choo’s Imperial Ballroom, tonight at 7:00 – 8:30 PM, in appreciation of their selfless efforts and dedicated service.

We will be honoring our 2009 Honorary Christmas Chairman, Mayor Ron Littlefield. He is among the 12,969 volunteers who gave their time and talents in 2009 to Army programs such as serving meals, assisting inner city youth, ringing bells, stuffing stockings at Christmas, assisting in the Angle Tree distribution, at times of disasters, assisting in our Family Stores and in our homeless café, in Chattanooga and Cleveland, Tennessee.

Friends from the media will also be honored are Rachel Oesch and Brian Smith — WDEF News 12. Other partners who will be recognized are, Comcast, KZ 106, WGOW-Talk Radio, J103 FM, Hamilton Place Mall, Northgate Mall, K-Mart at Bradley Square Mall.

The Salvation Army is a strong part of nearly every community in the United States and its work throughout the United States is greatly enhanced by its 1.7 million volunteers, states Chattanooga Salvation Army Area Commander, Major Jim Lawrence. Our greatest challenge, he adds, is to continue to have sufficient support with time, money, and resources, for the services The Army provides to those in such need in our community. We could not do all that we do without the community’s support.
