The Salvation Army Responds to Saturday Tornados
Chattanooga, TN – The Salvation Army's Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi (ALM) Division continues to respond to multiple tornado touchdowns across Mississippi and Alabama. Feeding, hydration, and emotional and spiritual support are being provided to communities devastated by the weekend storms.
The Salvation Army is coordinating services with local and state authorities through state Emergency Operations Centers. Salvation Army feeding units are currently serving Yazoo City and Attala County, Mississippi as well as Albertville and Fort Payne, Alabama. On Saturday, Salvation Army Disaster response teams served over 830 hot meals to residents and first responders in Mississippi. Interested parties are asked to visit www.msema.gov to register as a volunteer.
Monetary donations are needed to meet survivors' most immediate needs. A $100 donation will feed a family of four for two days, provide two cases of drinking water and one household cleanup kit containing brooms, mops, buckets and cleaning supplies. The Salvation Army is currently not accepting donations of clothing and furniture for storm victims.
