Chattanooga, TN – The Salvation Army’s disaster response teams continue providing food, drink and emotional support to victims of the Nashville flood. As of Tuesday evening, mobile feeding units from Knoxville, Nashville and Winchester, TN as well as Bowling Green and Madisonville, KY had served over 2,300 Nashville residents.
Chattanoogans interested in assisting flood relief efforts are encouraged to donate new hygiene, personal care and clean-up items. In particular, victims are in need of new socks, underwear, t-shirts, soap, shampoo, deodorant, dental supplies, feminine care products, toilet paper, mops, cleaning agents, trash bags, and other household cleaning supplies.
Donations may be delivered to the Chattanooga Market on Sunday, May 9th from 11 AM until 4 PM. Donation collection will resume at Chattanooga, Cleveland and Ft. Oglethorpe Salvation Army Family Thrift Stores on Monday, May 10th at 10 AM. The stores are located at 4104 Ringgold Road in Chattanooga, 669 17th Street in Cleveland, and 1809 Battlefield Parkway in Ft. Oglethorpe. Tractor trailers donated by Covenant Transport and Ocoee Transport will deliver the supplies to those in need.
Monetary donations are also needed to support the recovery effort. Please visit www.csarmy.org or call 1-800-SAL-ARMY to donate. A $100 donation will feed a family of four for two days, provide two cases of drinking water and one household cleanup kit containing a broom, mop, bucket, and other cleaning supplies.
