Tennessee’s Miss Lexington 2010 Provides Shoes for Souls to the Chattanooga Salvation Army’s Flood Relief Collections for Nashville
Chattanooga, TN – Tennessee’s Miss Lexington 2010, Nicole Jordan of Memphis, will be in Chattanooga this Thursday morning to donate athletic shoes to the Chattanooga Salvation Army as part of its flood relief collections for Nashville. Miss Lexington will be at The Salvation Army Family Store on Ringgold Road in East Ridge at 11:15 AM to make her special presentation. Covenant Transport will then leave from the Family Store to take four days of locally collected items to the Nashville Salvation Army.
Nicole Jordan, a University of Alabama senior, founded the Shoes for Souls program at the Youth Villages in Memphis. So far this year, she has distributed more than $120,000 worth of athletic shoes to needy children. She has donated 300 pairs of shoes to our area, some of which will be used for The Salvation Army’s inner-city ministries and the others will go to Nashville for the flood relief.
Meanwhile, donations of personal hygiene items, cleaning supplies and bottled water will continue through Wednesday at the Salvation Army Family Thrift Stores in East Ridge, Cleveland and Ft. Oglethorpe from 10 AM to 5 PM.
Monetary donations are also needed to support the recovery effort. To donate, go to www.csarmy.org or call 1-800-SAL-ARMY.
