Salvation Army Angel Tree Adoptions are Behind as Sponsorship Deadline Approaches!
Chattanooga, TN – The Chattanooga Salvation Army Angel Tree Program Deadline to adopt an Angel for this Christmas of 2010 is Friday, December 3. However, there are still 1,857 Angels needing to be adopted! The Salvation Army Angel Tree provides Christmas assistance for needy children, their families and senior citizens who would not otherwise receive gifts including necessities like food and warm clothing.
The local Salvation Army registered nearly 3,400 Angels this year, a 30% increase from last year. Just over 1,500 Angels have been adopted so far, but the deadline to adopt is just over a week away. Angels Trees are located at Hamilton Place, Northgate, and Bradley Square Malls.
"We are asking the community be really be generous during these last few days of Angel Tree so all these Angels will be adopted and have a wonderful Christmas," said Major Beverly Lawrence, Director of Women's Services. "We also need those who have adopted Angels to return those gifts as soon as they possibly can."
Major Lawrence went on to say clothing is needed for adding into many children's gift bags. New clothing of all children's sizes is being accepted at The Salvation Army at 822 McCallie Avenue as well as at the Angel Trees in the three malls.
Monetary donations are also needed to purchase gifts for children and seniors. Donations can be placed in any of the Red Kettles, mailed to 822 McCallie Avenue, given online at www.CSArmy.org or by calling 1-800-Sal-Army.
