The Salvation Army and Civil Air Patrol: Partners in Disaster Preparedness and Relief

May 6, 2011(Chattanooga, TN)– The key to a successful disaster response largely hinges on a well-made disaster plan. The Salvation Army and the Civil Air Patrol have had an ongoing relationship to provide mutual assistance in time of need. Timing and response are key elements to the disaster response, and the Civil Air Patrol provides critical service when it comes to the emergency transport of critically needed supplies and personnel.

Recently, because of the unavailability of commercial flights into the immediate area, the Civil Air Patrol provided a timely and cost effective means to transport Salvation Army personnel into an affected area. Captain Mark Landrum of Tennessee Wing Civil Air Patrol says, "We are pleased to be able to provide expedited transport to Salvation Army personnel in a timely and efficient manner." The Salvation Army appreciates the role that the Civil Air Patrol fills in providing the most effective response to the Chattanooga area disaster.
