Tree of Hope

Dec 7, 2023

The Chattanooga Area Command is thrilled to share the much-anticipated Christmas Tree Decorating Contest for 2023. As the holiday season approached, our community participated by spreading joy and festive spirit, showcasing their creativity through beautifully adorned Christmas trees. The Chattanooga Area Command is excited to witness the creativity and enthusiasm of our community as we embark on this festive journey together. The Christmas Tree Decorating Contest promises to be a highlight of the holiday season, bringing joy and warmth to our community. Due to the impressive submissions, we have created a short Christmas devotion series to lead us through the season.

At the church and social services offices in Cleveland, TN, the team members have created a “Tree of Hope.” The tree is decorated with words like “joy” and “believe.”. It is festively lit and displays an array of ornaments with red and white accents. At the bottom of the tree, you can see the theme word “hope.” This hope is the hope of the world. It is also the hope for the work being done in the Cleveland area.

As we approach the Christmas season, our hearts are filled with the anticipation of joy, peace, and hope. In Romans 15:13, the apostle Paul reminds us of the source of our hope—the God who sent His Son into the world to bring salvation and everlasting joy.

"I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit."

The verse begins with a prayer for God to fill us with joy and peace. It's a prayer that echoes throughout all ages and to every age. It reaches into the depths of our hearts today. God desires to fill us—not partially, but thoroughly—with the joy from trusting in Him.

Christmas is all about hope. Jesus is the fulfillment of God's promise. In that humble manger, the embodiment of hope entered the world. A hope that transcends circumstances, a hope that brings joy beyond understanding, and a hope that offers peace amid chaos. This hope changes lives in the lower Tennessee Valley area every day.

As believers, our hope is not based on fleeting circumstances but on the unchanging character of God. God keeps His promises. This trust, in turn, becomes the catalyst for the overflow of confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Imagine your heart as a vessel being filled to the brim with the joy and peace that only God can provide. This Christmas, let's allow God to overflow our hearts with hope. As we reflect on the birth of Jesus, may we be reminded that He is the reason for our unshakeable hope.

In the midst of the busyness of the season, take a moment to bask in the joy of salvation, revel in the peace that surpasses all understanding, and embrace the hope that is ours through Christ. Let this Christmas be a celebration of the overflowing joy that comes from trusting in the God of hope.
